Before We Opened, The Baltimore Sun Told Our Story
Before we ever pulled a shot, The Baltimore Sun covered what we were building: a modern coffee house for the Ellicott City community.
Months before opening day, The Baltimore Sun ran a story on what was coming to the Normandy Shopping Center: “Cube Coffee, with Middle Eastern roots, to open in Ellicott City.” For a team still hanging the banner outside, seeing the vision in print made it real.
“We felt there was a lack of a modern, hip coffee spot which was actually open later in the evenings and nights on weekends.”
— Kashif Munir, co-owner, in The Baltimore Sun
The promise we made
The article laid out exactly what we set out to build: ethically sourced beans, espresso drinks and single-origin brews, our own Cube chai, natural snacks, and bean-to-bar craft chocolates — all in a space designed for staying, not just grabbing and going.
It also captured the bigger reason we picked Ellicott City: this community deserved a third place. Somewhere between home and work where you can settle in — to work, to catch up, or to do nothing at all.
From “coming soon” to open doors
The “Coming Soon” banner came down in spring 2026 when we officially opened. If you read the Sun piece back in December and wondered how it turned out — come see for yourself. The cardamom syrup is housemade, the chai is ours, and there’s a seat waiting for you, just like we said.
